The Jhola Woman of India

Dr. Anubha
Singh

A habit-maker. An educator. A force for collective action.

“Our personality exhibits and reflects in the way we nurture our environment and keep our surroundings.”

Environmentalist · Professor · Trainer · Social worker

Her story

From a personal habit to a people’s movement

Dr. Anubha Singh is a professor, trainer and image consultant by profession, a classical dance performer by hobby, and an environmentalist and social worker by passion. Her natural inclination towards social work has led her to initiatives spanning women’s empowerment, road safety and environmental wellbeing.

Famously known as the “Jhola Woman,” she promotes the Jhola Abhiyan as a practical correction to the age-old habit of accepting plastic bags and other single-use products. Her message is direct: meaningful environmental change begins with the choices we repeat every day.

01

Make it practical

A reusable Jhola is easy to carry, visible to others and simple to repeat.

02

Make it social

Every conscious choice opens a conversation and can inspire another person.

03

Make it dignified

Responsible products can also support women, weavers and artisan livelihoods.
